Mayor Tom Beehan is seeking reelection to Oak Ridge City Council June 2 because he wants to continue to move forward in areas critical to the city's future, including safety, housing, and retail and business development.

Tom has served on City Council eight years. He was Mayor Pro Tem for six of those years, and was elected by Council to serve as Mayor in 2007.

In his own words...

I believe we are making headway in areas critical to our future. We have increased our police patrols, using overtime pay, in troubled areas of the city to attack serious crime. We have attracted new townhomes to replace dilapidated housing in Highland View, using our neighborhood revitalization plan. We have encouraged city support for and expansion of the city's Neighborhood Watch groups, involving citizens in making our community better. We have an award-winning, renovated and rebuilt Oak Ridge High School, accomplished without a property tax increase.

Thank you for the privilege of serving on Oak Ridge City Council for the past eight years. Oak Ridge is a great place to participate in local government. Together, let's continue to build Oak Ridge into a great Tennessee city. I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue serving you on City Council.
